Bowman Woods Swim and Racquet Club


Bowman Woods Swim and Racquet Club develops youth tennis players at a beginner level to an advanced player! Tennis lessons are open to members and the public. Take a look at the variety of lessons that we offer by experienced and qualified instructors. As a member of BWSRC, you may use the tennis courts. Please be respectful of those around you. Thank you. 

Tennis Lesson Information - Registration will be available for Members on May 1, 2025. Members need to login to their member account. The public registration will be available May 8, 2025 at noon.  

There will be 3 separate sessions for tennis lessons.

  • Each session will include daily and end of session awards for tennis players

  • Each tennis player must bring their own tennis racquet and water

  • Sessions are two weeks long Monday-Thursday with a rain makeup on Friday

  • Max limit of ten (10) registrations per level to ensure a good instructor/player ratio

  • A free end of the year tournament will be held again this year!

NOTE:  Beginning, Junior I, and Junior II are held at BWSRC because we can handle 6-8 kids per court. 
The Advanced/Tennis Team will be held at Excelsior since we can have no more the 4 kids per court.

**Advanced/Tennis Team registration is for all 3 sessions!  Includes 4 practices a week M-Th and at least 4 Junior Tennis Team (JTT) tennis meets on Fridays. Meets will be in the Cedar Rapids area. Practices held at Oak Ridge Middle School.

2025 Schedule and Cost for Tennis Lessons

  Session Dates:

  • Session 1:  June 16 - June 27
  • Session 2:  July 7 - July 18
  • Session 3:  July 21 - Aug 1
No lessons are held on Fridays unless there is a make-up lesson due to weather

  Tennis Levels:

    • Beginner (No tennis experience)     9:00 am to 9:45 am - $90
    • Junior I  (Grades 1-3)                        10:00 am to 10:45 am - $90
    • Junior II  (Grades 3-5)                       11:00 am to 11:45 pm - $90
    • **Advanced Tennis Team**                12:30 pm to 1:45 pm - $210   (Grades 4 and above and June 20 - August 5) 
    • ONLINE PAYMENT ONLY - PROCESSING FEES WILL APPLY
  • **Advanced/Tennis Team registration is for all 3 sessions! Includes 4 practices a week and NJTL tennis meets normally held on Fridays. Meets will be both home/away in the Cedar Rapids area. Practices/meets will be held at Excelsior Middle School tennis courts.

    Beginner Level - No tennis experience (9:00 am-9:45 am)

    Junior I - Some tennis experience grade 1-3 (10:00 am-10:45 am)

    Lesson cost is $90 with $3.00 processing fee.  Online payment only. Payment must be received within 15 minutes of registering or result in cancellation.

    Beginner Level - Little to no pickleball experience 

    Intermediate/Advanced Level - Comfortable with the rules and experienced with playing pickleball

    Each player must bring their own pickleball paddle. 

    League cost is $60 with additional online processing fee. Online payment only. Payment must be received within 15 minutes of registering or result in cancellation.

    Pickleball League is open to members and the public and are Wednesdays (Coed Beginner), and Thursdays (Coed Intermediate/Advanced) at Bowman Woods Tennis Court with no rain make up day.

    Registration opens Thursday, July 10th for members and Sunday, July 20th for the public. Registration link can be found on the calendar of the BWSRC website.
